More than 100 years ago, Mr. Arulanantham Pillai resided in Athangudi Village, Sivagangai District, TAMILNADU and was the Chief Mason of construction and cement tiles with Slab and Jolly Makers.

His son, Mr. A. Amirthaswamy Pillai introduced fully glazed Athangudi Tiles not less than 80 years ago. Mr. Selva, both Mr. Alex and Mr. Arun, his grandson’s, now run the famous Selva Industries-Arun Tiles who are pioneers in Athangudi Tiles.

What began in the hands of master creator Mr. Arulanantham Pillai now lives through Mr. Arun, who continues the purity of Athangudi’s original tile-making science.
